Christ Church Cathedral is situated on a promontory at the western edge of Ottawa's downtown core.  It overlooks the Ottawa River and the western approaches to the city with a vantage point that includes the Gatineau Hills of western Quebec.  The present structure was built in 1872-73 and was consecrated the Cathedral of the Diocese of Ottawa in 1896.

 

Seating capacity for most Cathedral Arts events is approximately 700, situated in the Nave of the Church.
